about

‘EPM Selected Vol. 6’ features twelve tracks from the recent EPMmusic archive, this time focussing on remixes. Featuring Mark Broom, Oliver Way, Dan Curtin, House of Black Lanterns, D-Knox, Ben Long, Esteban Adame and The Third Man the compilation showcases remixes from the likes of Claro Intelecto, Juan Atkins, South London Ordnance, Aphrohead, James Ruskin, Truncate, Anthony Parasole & Phil Moffa, Scan X and more.

Toby Leeming’s The Third Man alias leads the compilation with a hypnotic, voodoo-dub workout from Manchester’s Claro Intelecto whilst Truncate picks up the pace with a techno rampage on Mark Broom’s ‘Z Beats’. Next up we have Oliver Way’s New York Citi Peech Boys sampling house anthem ‘Music is So Special’ remixed into a tribal house groove by Felix Da Housecat’s Aphrohead guise before Detroit Don, Juan Atkins totally re-works Esteban Adame’s ‘Descendants’ into a bubbling electro vortex.

Blueprint’s James Ruskin slashes his way through Ben Long’s ‘Calling Broadsword’ turning it into off-kilter, fractured electronics, Chicago’s DJ Hyperactive dons his jacking boots for a cymbal riding re-work of Mark Broom’s ‘One Sound’ and South London Ordnance drags House of Black Lanterns into a satanic cavern of brooding sonics.

Chris McCormack turns in an outstanding remix of Ben Long’s ‘Open Doors’ which bristles with subtle elegance and emotional warmth, evoking early Black Dog, B12 and AFX melodies whilst Metamorphic man, Dan Curtin cranks D-Knox’s ‘Out There’ into a bump and grind hoedown. Scan X then steps up to pulverise Oliver Way’s ‘Lucky Dip’, looping it into the darkness on swirling rhythms and muted stabs with Anthony Parasole & Phil Moffa re-moulding Esteban Adame’s ‘Out to Get It’ into an energy-sapping techno blast. Finally we round up proceedings with an exclusive mix as Oliver Way & Ben Long mulch ‘Lucky Dip’ away from the main dancefloor with freestyle modular synths and staccato pads. A fitting way to cool down and round off the show.
